There are so many fun and exciting activities to do here in San Juan del Sur. Some activities can be a little pricy but there are still a few hidden gems to find!! Hiking to the Jesus Statue is just that. A 30 min ‘get your blood pumpin’ walk up the hillside of the Pacific Marlin housing community, and you will find gorgeous views over looking the Bay, and the north and south sides of the coastline! Nicaragua is on the up and coming for tourism, but this is a treat to be able to see such an undeveloped countryside. The views of roaming hills, mountains, sea stacks and so much more will leave you in awe of our wonderful country.
The road to the Jesus Statue is fairly easy to find, just cross over the bridge on the north side of town and follow the signs. There is a $2 entry fee to help maintain the grounds, but the views are well worth the price. Once you are in the gated area, there is a small chapel, posters with information on the construction of the statue and history of San Juan del Sur. Don’t worry if you only have a short amount of time, or don’t feel like walking, you can also drive up to the base of the entrance and park. Either way, this is a must ‘see’ activity!! Sit back, relax and take in the views of San Juan, but be sure to snap a panoramic photo!!
