Our passions are the true phoenixes; when the old one is burned out, a new one rises from it’s ashes.

Surf instruction at Nicaragua surf camp

Last week I had the honor to host one special lady at Surf House. Tiina lives and works in Vancouver. She joined our last week’s camp for three more days of surfing after participating the camp before. During her time with Chica Brava she was finding her personal passion for surfing. Tiina worked hard every day to master her pop up and did a great job by the end of her stay. Like a Phoenix she learned to rise up, plant those two feet on the board, and with a beautiful feeling for her balance rode almost every wave all the way in. Her paddling got stronger and and her confidence in the water a boost. It was a real joy for me watching her living her new found passion for the waves and mother ocean. Our last day we unfortunately couldn’t surf due to really strong wind gusts. But we still spent the day near the ocean. We went to Playa Coco, where we had an amazing Cappuccino and went for a long walk on the beach, looking for shells and finding a little fallen airplant that found a new home in my house. Playa Escameca was our next destination, where we had lunch and also a little walk on the beach.

We watched the sunset in the Bay of San Juan and made a toast to rising Phoenixes and fallen airplants.

Thanks for this beautiful time in and outside of the ocean!
