Oh dear Australia. Straya, OZ, or the land down under. So many ways to call that dreamy place! There are many reasons why we’re mesmerized by this continent. Being surrounded by beautiful nature, hearing “G’day mate” everywhere when walking down the streets, but most importantly being able to chase their summer and find some of the best waves on the planet. Australia has a lot to offer! You’ll find nice and gentle waves for beginners as much as you can find gnarly heavy surf. There’s definitely something to make every surfer happy. Here are some of our favorite surf spots in OZ.

Byron Bay

Byron Bay Australia: Surfing Australia

Byron bay has more than enough to charm surfers. There’s a saying that says: ‘’you can check-out of Byron, but you can never leave’’. Byron bay is an absolute dream. From surfing The Wreck, to the Pass, this hippy-happy slow-paced town will provide you eternal good vibes and the waves of you’ve always wished for!

Margaret River

Margaret River: Surfing Australia

3 hours from Perth on the west side of the country, you’ll find Margaret River. If you want to avoid the craziness of the East Coast, this spot will suit you. Margaret River can be quite an heavy wave, make sure you’re comfortable with your skills and you know your surfing etiquette! Otherwise there are always a lot of wineries, and fancy coffees, and gastronomy to experience.

Bells Beach

Bells Beach: Surfing Australia

Still home of one of the WSLs world tour event, Bells beach hosted its first competition in 1962. Not only to mention that Bells is a pretty famous surf spot worldwide, it’s also the location that has been running a surf competition the longest in Australia. Every year around Easter, the best surfers of the world are coming to Victoria show what they can do. The bells trophy, ‘’ You gotta win it to ring it!’’

Snapper Rocks

Snapper Rocks: Surfing Australia

This famous break also known as Superbanks is located in Gold Coast, QLD. Every year, when the perfect swell hits, Snapper offers a wave you’ll never forget about: A perfect right hander point break. Just look at this picture of last January, is there anything else I need to say?

Noosa Heads

Noosa Heads: Surfing Australia

Noosa is a little paradise, further north of the past break, still located in Queensland. In this area, you’ll find a national park, a big koala population, a nice river to go paddleboard in, and also perfect peelers. Glide at peace on one these waves, and let Noosa welcome you!

Tasmania

Tasmania: Surfing Australia

You’ve probably heard of the Tasmanian Devil? So that’s pretty much what it is. Shipsterns Bluffs is one of the gnarliest wave of the globe. If you’re an accomplished surfer and you’re getting bored surfing easy waves, here’s the biggest challenge of your life. But no seriously, let’s be real, this is absolute madness. Big props to all the surfers that ever tried to ride this, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know!

All reasons are good to go surfing in Australia, did you know you could also get a Holiday Working Visa for a ‘’Staycation’’? Get out there and live the dream!
