6 wonderful women, with media presences to boot, descended on San Juan del Sur for three fun-filled days of surf. Now I won’t lie… surfing is not easy. It is incredibly rewarding and has the potential to change your life, but it is not easy. So place that into three jam-packed days full of activities and you have an unforgettable experience with wonderful waves and wacky wipeouts. Learning to surf and experiencing closeness that comes with bonding over wipeouts, laughter, frustration and joy in the waves. It was a fantastic three days that we were lucky to spend with our 6 mujers.
Having grown up around water, Michelle was a natural talent in the waves. The huge grin plastered over her face while riding the waves said it all. Color emanates from this chica and provides the inspiration for all that she is and does with her creative mind. Michelle’s photography is the outlet with which she chooses to express her love for color and the world around her.
Kim Marie had a Sunday Funday all of her own, overcome with emotion after her first incredible ride all the way into the beach, this one is hooked! For the mum of four whom totally rocked it in the waves, Kim Marie’s luxury travel blog does not reveal all that this woman is capable of! Her go-for-it nature and competitive spirit made for a fabulous three days of surf and sun.
Alejandra, lover of fun, laughter and full of life, found hilarity in any situation. Our lovely Latina is a food and lifestyle blogger with such a positive mindset that it’s hard not to be infected with her positive vibes!
Overcoming her fears was an awesome achievement for Lisa. With an attitude of never giving up, Lisa was such a trooper in the water and not letting anything stand in her way. A freelance travel writer, Lisa captured stunning images throughout the camp, totally giving it her all and embracing her slogan to the max, “Living a liberated life of leisure”.
With her travel blog as freelance travel writer, Breanna was not going to pass up the opportunity to learn to surf in Nicaragua. Bre ended the week as a badass surfer chick with bruises and a big smile to show for it!
Marlise, our busy bee, finally scored some much needed surf and relaxation time. Managing to squeeze in double sessions with her renewed surf stoke, Marlise was frothing like a grom in the waves. As a freelance travel writer for various places in Central America, Nicaragua was a perfect surf getaway to revisit and fall in love with all over again.
DAY 1:
Surf. Treated to a horse trek and guided tour through Finca Las Nubes, the women were able to see the organic and self-sufficient nature of the farm. However the main highlight was a sloth that looked very much like Donald Trump’s hair.
DAY 2:
Surf. Kim Marie and Michelle experienced blissful massages at Zen Yoga, a perfect way to ease sore surfing muscles. Our remaining chicas had a tostones cooking demonstration which is a delicious Nicaraguan food made with fried plantains. El Timon Restaurant topped off a sun-soaked, relaxing day with birthday celebrations for Kim Marie and Lisa.
DAY 3:
Surf. The sunset catamaran cruise was the ultimate finale for Alejandra, Michelle, Kim Marie and Bre. Dolphins swimming alongside set a magical scene to hail the end of an epic three days at Chica Brava.
Lisa had the chance to experience Playa La Flor at its finest with turtles laying eggs and releasing baby turtles into the ocean.
All in all, our 2015 press trip was a delightful three days of fun in the sun! We hope that it will not be the last time we see your faces in Nicaragua for there are many more waves to surf, alongside friends both new and old.
