Staff development days are essential to keeping our team stoked, sharing bonding experiences, and all in all – having fun!!! This months trip, we chose to take the staff for a day filled with breakfast and cruising the Isletas in Granada, Nicaragua. It was such a treat to get out of town for a bit, and experience another city this amazing country has to offer.
We started the day off early, piling into the Cruiser and setting off in ‘Style’ with the music blaring and laughing loudly. Switching from Latin music to classic hits; in no time we were pullin’ up to the best place in Granada for Breakfast – Kathy’s Waffle House! During breakfast we all shared what motivated us professionally and personally – this was a cool bonding experience to learn a little deeper into your co-workers lives! After indulging in blueberry and pecan waffles, gallo pinto, eggs, omelets and house made wheat bread, we were all stuffed to the brim and ready to view the 365 little islands that make up the ‘Isletas.’
We climbed into horse drawn carriages to make our way down to the lake front – of course branded by Movistar and Claro (the local cell phone companies – Movistar is the best btw!). We toured the Isletas with our guide Jorge, who knew everything about everything. He gave us all inside scoop of the islands, from who lived where to how they were made – a volcanic eruption by Volcano Mombacho in 1570. Our turn around point was Monkey Island, were we all experienced a fun lively monkey named Lucy. As the day came to an end, we all climbed into the Cruiser to make our way back to San Juan del Sur. Sitting in tired silence, I looked around and smiled that I was able to be part of this day. Chica Brava is built to inspire women and share experiences, so it’s always a treat to make these memories with your coworkers and strengthen the bond of the team!
