Stretch, Stretch, Stretch

Call it stretching or name it yoga, what ever works for you, but bend that stiffness out of your body. Biggest part of surfing is actually paddling, so make sure that you give your shoulders a good stretch. Surfing can be hard for your hips; do some hip openers, stretch the back of your legs, try a pigeon pose.

Get a Massage

Do I need to say more? We all know how good and relaxed you feel afterwards. Some people find a deep tissue massage, where therapist really gets in to those trigger points, most beneficial. But if you are not a fan of temporary pain, get more gentle and relaxing treatment. There is so many options out there and the goal is the same; relax those muscles!

How to Soothe Sore Surfing Muscles

Do a Light Workout

Light activity increases circulation to muscles, which speeds up the healing of the muscle aches. You can go to gym and workout with light weights; if you are more outdoorsy type go for a walk and enjoy the view or have a little swim.

Get Some Heat

Warmth is good for your sore muscles. Especially if you are surfing in colder climates. Just imagine the melting feeling when you sit in a hot bath. Or just lie in a sun for a little while and let it do its magic.
