Chica Brava translates in spanish to “Brave Girl,” and Brave is what we needed to be to conquer our fears of the 350ft rappel drop we were about to do! Knowing our fear in heights and never really rapelled more than 50ft before, Ashley and I chose to “Chica Brava it up” and try out this new activity in town! Started by our friends Baldo and Sarah, Aracne Rapelling Tours is “THE” new activity to do in San Juan del Sur! The tour starts at the base of the mountain at the south end of town; As you hike up about 45 minutes you get to experience a history lesson of how San Juan del Sur came to be, see old ruins of a watch tower used in the 1800’s, check out the lighthouse on the point and take in the spectacular views of the coastline, North and South!! As you take it all in, you then realize what you came to do…. RAPPEL!! Using top notch brand new equipment, you harness up and await your turn. “Amazing” and “Out of this World” are words that could be used to describe this tour but no words can describe the feeling you have rapelling down the side of the cliff enjoying the ocean view for miles!!! We all made it down the mountain and exchanged high fives and hugs but the tour wasn’t over! We then jumped in the Pacific Ocean and swam to the boat awaiting our arrival to take a harbor tour of San Juan. Beers were cold and smiles were bright as we shared our experience! Thanks to Aracne Rappelling Tours, you made the Chica Brava’s more brave!! If you are in town, this is a “must do” on the list of activities available!!!
