This week at Chica Brava, we had one super rad chica stay with us at the Surf House! Sheryn, from San Francisco by way of Malaysia, fully embraced the experience and got the most out of her trip to Chica Brava and Nicaragua. The week started off with a bang as we ventured to the local discoteca to celebrate a birthday and try out our dance moves. We may not have matched up evenly with the locals, but we all left with a better knowledge of how to move our hips and dance salsa.
During the week, we surfed Playa Remanso, Playa Maderas, and Playa Hermosa. Naturally our appetites peaked, so we ended up completing a food tour of Nicaragua as well as a surf tour. Some of the highlights included trying picos, gelato, and tasty chicken made by our favorite Chicken Lady in San Juan. The best meal was by far the lobster we had right next to the beach at beautiful Playa Marsella. That same day, other talents were discovered – Sheryn turned out to be an amazing artist. As we spent some time ‘playing’ in the sand, her sand drawings blew us away!
Sheryn’s surfing improved every day. One surfing highlight at Playa Remanso was when the water was particularly clear we could see fish swimming below us as we surfed. Sheryn proved to everyone how much better her paddling improved throughout the week, when she was catching her own waves and surfing down the line at Playa Hermosa on Thursday! It was a great week filled with good food, laughter, and surfing sisters.
