This week at Chica Brava was a bit different then usual, as it was one of the few times of the year in which we held a co-ed camp. Although there were three couples, they traveled as a group of long time friends and made it fun and easy for solo traveler Genevieve to share lots of waves and good times with them.

Lynne and Ryan, traveling from Nashville, had only surfed once before while on their honey moon in Hawaii. Both came to Chica Brava with no crazy expectations but to just have fun. They both became comfortable with their pop ups on day one and by Friday they were cruising down the line!

Matt and Anne Marie were also traveling from Nashville and had both surfed just once a few years back. Anne Marie was popping up to her feet right away and riding in to shore while Matt was paddling into his own waves by Sunday!

Genevieve, traveling from Canada, thought it would be a good idea to stop and catch some waves before starting her yoga teacher training. She had only surfed a few times before but was hoping to learn more. By day one she was catching waves on the outside. Mid-week she felt drawn to try out a shorter board and by Friday she was cruising down the line on a 7’10.

With Christmas being just around the corner, the stoke and spirits were high! A catamaran at sunset, classes at Zen Yoga, and Tonas were shared as well as lots of waves. No better way to have ended the year then in the sea riding waves!
What a great week and a good way to surf into the holidays! Hope to see you Chicas (and Chicos) back here someday soon.
